It's very interesting to see how alchemy, qi, and Taoism ties together. I didn'n know much about any of them before, and having read this article I now have a better understanding of how the story comes together.

I find this page really interesting because I had never heard of taoism before. I had seen the symbol before but I never really knew what it stood for. Thanks for clarifying.

I found this source quite interesting, It provided me with some interesting facts about the Qin Dynasty and its reign over the ethnic majority of the Chinese. I also found it interesting that the leader of the insurgents divided the country into 19 feudal states, and that he committed suicide after the Qin Dynasty crumbled.

It was interesting to look into the comparability between Zheng He and Admiral Kheim (i.e., how Zheng He and his crew worshipped their gods and how Admiral Khem and company honored and prayed to the goddess Tianfei).

might want to cite this web page as a source: http://www.geocities.com/heiankyo794/tyoras-guide.html since the introductory summary is a direct quote from the guide....

Before reading this source I assumed that Toaism was more religous-like. It is interesting that it was never an organized religion but rather a belief.

I had no idea Ibn Sina was actually a real philosopher. It's very interesting to find out that he was a Persian physician and scientist as well.

Really cool, because I read book 7 in detail (my section) and I didn't make that connection what so ever. Where did you guys come up with that idea? I never saw the similarities

Alchemy is not a recognized/practiced science in most societies today; allthough alchemy classes are not taught in schools, the basic fundamentals of alchemy are learned through other subjects such as chemistry, which is a class taught in schools, therefore students do gain a somewhat background knowledge of it.

I found this page very interesting, mainly because I knew that alchemy was practiced in the west, but i had never heard of alchemy in China. Also, following the cinnabar link, I found out it is a compound composed of mercury and sulfur, which explains why Khalid was familiar with the substance, because the reagents he used usually included sulfur and mercury.

I think alchemy is an interesting topic because nowadays most people consider it a pseudoscience. Yet alchemy was an important influence for modern science. I’m curious to know what others think about alchemy being a pseudoscience.
